Rock was the role for the six “American Idol” contestants Tuesday. Bon Jovi mentored each of the “Idol” hopefuls to prepare them for a head-banging show. Our South Jersey fans think from this point on, it is the best versus the best.

“Now that we actually have a nail-biting show and a true competition after weeding out all the players that did not need to be on the show,” said Tabitha Dupree, 28, of Lindenwold. “We can all sit on the edge of our seats waiting for the news of the next “American Idol.’ ”

LaKisha made a great comeback. Melinda was predictably good, as always (but boring).

Jordin’s performance of “Living on a Prayer” was manic and shrill last night. Chris tried hard to pull off “Wanted Dead or Alive”, but nasally Bon Jovi just does not sound good on my TV. However, I think Jordin’s brilliant performance last week when 70 million votes were cast will be enough to save her from this week’s terrible performance.

This is a hard choice this week because of the great performances last night, but my predictions for elimination are Chris Richardson and (gasp) Lakisha Jones. She was terrible last week, and I don’t think her performance this week can overcome the sheer number of votes last week.

Weasel Clause – Of course, I haven’t been right with my predictions yet. So this week probably won’t be any different and those that I think are safe (Phil and Jordin) will be the ones to go instead.

Take that Howard Stern.

American Idol also aired footage showing that Simon’s eye rolling was at Chris Richardson’s comment about nasally singing as a style, not at his remarks about Virginia Tech. I had predicted Chris would be eliminated tonight, but instead he was in the top 4.

Matt Drudge has removed all references to Simon’s eye rolling from his web site.
